Shokado Shojyo
1584〜1639
He was a monk. He became a monk at the age 17. Then he studied Shigon Esoteric Buddhism (真言密教) and gained a position as “Ajari” (阿闍梨: a master of Esoteric Buddhism; high priest). He became a head monk of Takimotobo temple (瀧本坊) in 1792. After his retirement, he lived a artistic life, including waka (和歌) poetry, Chanoyu (茶の湯: tea ceremony).
