At Matsumoto Shoeido, we handle a variety of artworks specializing in Kakejiku (Japanese hanging scrolls). Our main focus is artwork from the Edo period, when artists such as Hakuin Ekaku and Ito Jakuchu were active. Besides Japanese art, we have a good selection of Chinese and Korean works too. The Zen artworks in our collection are also gaining popularity worldwide.
We are honored to have assisted a variety of clients over the years. From public and private galleries to individual collectors worldwide. We take pride in what we do, connecting customers to their desired artworks. To us, our customers are valuable treasures, just as the artworks are.
100 years of history
The company was established during my grandparents’ generation, more than 100 years ago. It was, and still remains to be, a reliable art and calligraphy dealer to this day.
I constantly strive to improve my knowledge in the area of art authentication and aesthetic appreciation to preserve the reputation of our company. I want our customers to feel at ease entrusting their treasured items with us.
As a collector myself, there is nothing more fulfilling than assisting other collectors in their search for the perfect item. I feel it is my duty as an art dealer to pass on great art and calligraphy to the next generation.
