She was a painter, the 4th daughter of Seimei Ikeda(池田政明). She studied painting under Suiseki Makita (牧田水石) and Chinese classics under芽根一鷗. She respected Chinese painter, 鄭板橋. She became an adopted daughter of the Okuhara family at the age of 29. She went to Tokyo and interacted with many writers and artists. It is famous Takayoshi Kido (木戸孝允) patronaged her. She attracted people with her toughness as a man and the bold brushwork. She became a person who represented Tokyo art world in Meiji era.
