Okamoto Toyohiko
1773~1845
He was a painter born in Okayama. He studied painting under the Nan-ga (南画)painter, Ryozan Kuroda (黒田綾山). Around 1796, He moved to Kyoto and became a pupil Gosyun (呉春). He often exhibited his works at Calligraphy Exhibition. After Gosyun died, he opened art school and produced many pupils. He was good at Kacho-ga (花鳥画: picture of flowers and birds), portrait, and landscape painting. There is his name in “Heian Jinbutsushi” (平安人物誌: the list of notables in Heian era).
