Kano Doun

1625～1694
He was a Kano school painter. He was born in Goto family but became an adopted son of Tanyu Kano (狩野探幽) at the age of 11. In 1659, he participated in the creation of screen painting in Edo castle. Then he was given the mansion in 1667 and found Surugadai Kano family (駿河台狩野家). He participated in building Old Imperial Palace four times. He was conferred Hogen (法眼: the rank among the Buddhist monk) in 1691.
