Meigetsu Donnei

1727～1797
He was a monk of Shin-sect (浄土真宗). He was born in Yamaguchi pref. and moved to Ehime pref. when he was fifteen. He became an apprentice of Gikuu(義空). Gikuu was a temple master of Enkou-ji(円光寺). Donnei walked across Japan and promoted better understanding of Buddhism. He returned to Enkou-ji when he was 34 and took over the running of the temple from Gikuu.
