Kido Shogiku
1833~1877
He was a politician born in Yamaguchi pref. He is called one of “Ishin no Sanketsu” (維新の三傑: the three contributors to the Meiji Restoration" along with Takamori Saigo (西郷隆盛) and Toshimichi Okubo (大久保利通). He was influenced by the thinker, Syoin Yoshida (吉田松陰) and engaged in national affairs in Edo (now Tokyo). Also, he was known for Chinese style poem and calligraphy.
