Nagai Unpei

1833〜1899
He was a Nan-ga (南画:the south school of Chinese painting) born in Niigata pref. He studied painting under Tetsuo Hidaka (日高鉄翁) and Itsuun Kinosita (木下逸雲). Also, he went to China and had a relationship with a Chinese painter,徐雨亭. In his later life,He moved to Nagano pref. He was active in there as a leading person of Shinsyu Nan-ga (信州南画).
