Unkoku Toeki
1591~1644
He was a painter. His father was the founder of Unkoku school, Togan Unkoku (雲谷等顔). Toeki studied painting under his father. In 1618, Togan died and Toeki succeed to the family. He was conferred Hokyo (法橋:one of the rank among monks or artists). Toeki served Mori family and succeeded in life. He called himself as SessyuⅣ(雪舟4代). It is said that his eyesight became bad, but he continued to paint. In 1643, he was ordered to make the folding screens and they were places in Edo castle.
