Kakizaki Hakyo
1764~1826
He was the fifth son of the Lord of Matsumae Domain, Sukehero Matsumae (松前資広). Then he became an adopted son of Kakizaki family. At first, he studied painting under Siseki So (宋紫石) in Edo (now Tokyo).Later he studied under Donkyo Ohara (大原呑響). In 1791,he studied under Oukyo Maruyama (円山応挙) in Kyoto. Taking this opportunity, his style greatly changed from the style of Nagasaki-school to Matuyama school. In 1807, Matsumae Domain was forced relocation to Fukushima pref. He made efforts to recovered territory as chief retainer.
