Higashiyama Kaii

1908～1999
He was born in Kanagawa pref. He graduated from Tokyo Shook of Fine Arts(東京美術学校). He studied under Somei Yuki (結城素明). When he was in the school, he got a prize at Tei-ten (帝展: the Japan Art Academy Exhibition) in a row. After the war, he was active in Bun-ten (文展: Japanese exhibition).He won the Order of Culture in 1969. He gained popularity as a national landscape painter.
