Tani Bunichi
1787~1818
He was a son of a doctor, Toshimitsu Kanzou (利光寛造). It is said he became an adopted child of a painter, Buncho Tani (谷文晁) around 1794. Bunichi studied painting under B uncho and married the eldest daughter of Buncho. In Bunichi and Buncho participated in production of the copy of “Ishiyamadera-Engi-Emaki” (石山寺縁起絵巻: a scroll painting of Ishiyama-dera temple). He drew landscapes and Kacho-ga (花鳥画: flower and bird painting) and so on . His works have elegance.
