Kumagai Naohiko

1828～1913
He was a painter born in Kyoto. He studied painting under Shigehiko Okamoto (岡本茂彦). He became the adopted son of the domain lord of Hiroshima, Samon Kumatani (熊谷左門). Naohiko worked as bureaucrat for the period of the Meiji Restoration but he devoted himself to painting.
