Ikeda Koson
1801~1866
He was born in Echigo (now Niigata). He studied paintings under Houitsu Sakai(酒井抱一) in Edo(now Tokyo). Koson and Houichi respected a painter, Kourin Ogata(尾形光琳), so they published “Korin Hyakuzu”(光琳百図) and “Korin Shinsen Hyakuzu”(光琳新撰百図). Also, Koson published the book about Hoitsu. It named “Houitsu-syounin shinnseki kagami”(抱一上人真蹟鏡) He specialized in Kacho-ga (花鳥画: flower and bird painting ) and painting of grass and flower. The number of his works is not so many.
