Aoki Mokubei

1767～1833
He was the eldest son of the tea store in Gion, Kyoto. He read a book about Chinese ceramics,“Tousetsu”(陶説) and aimed to be a potter. The characteristic of his art is raffish and free and easy painting. Also, we can feel direct impact of Chinese arts, ”Ming and Qing arts ”(明清画) from his works.
