He was a monk of Obaku-sect (黄檗宗) born in Yamaguchi pref. He went to Nagasaki to make effort to found Sofuku-ji temple (崇福寺) and became a disciple of Syoto Mokuann (木庵性トウ) . Douki helped Doko Tetsugen (鉄眼道光) to publish of “Daizo-kyo” (大蔵経: Tripitaka ).
