He was a Japanese-style painter born in Osaka. He studied under Bairei Kono (幸野楳嶺). He regarded as one of the 4 best painters of Bairei’s pupils together with Seiho Takeuchi (竹内栖鳳), Kokyo Taniguchi (谷口香嶠), Kako Tuji (都路華香). Also, he was active as a jury of Bunten exhibition, professor, and Teishitsu-gigeiin (帝室技芸員: Imperial art expert)
