He was a printmaker, Western style painter, and Japanese style painter born in Aomori pref. He aimed to be a printmaker influenced by Sumio Kawakami(川上澄生) He left behind many masterpieces. They are not only engraving but oil painting, poem and so on. He won the Order of Culture.
