He was a painter born in Kyoto. He took over the family business when he was 23. Then, he transferred the family business to his brother at 40 and started painting. His major work is “Dosyokusaie” (動植綵絵: Colorful Realm of Living Beings). It took about ten years to produce. Jakuchu expressed the world of Buddha and the respect for every living things in this picture.
