Utagawa Kuniyoshi

1797～1861
He was an Ukiyo-e artist who represented in the Ukiyo-e world in 19th century. He became a pupil of Toyokuni UtagawaⅠ(歌川豊国) at the age of 15. He received much praise for the series of “Suikoden” (水滸伝) and became a popular painter. He painted wide variety of genres, including Musya-e (武者絵: picture of samurai ), landscape painting using shadow method.
