Sakamoto Kosetsu

1800〜1853
He was a scholar of herbalism and painter born in Wakayama pref. He studied medicine under his father and herbalism under Sohan (曾槃). Also, he studied painting at Kano-school (狩野派). He often drew plants. Especially, Japanese Cherry was main subject of his works. He was famous for paintings of Japanese cherry.
