Kujyo Takeko
1887〜1928
She was a poet born in Kyoto. Her father was the 21th chief monk of Nishi Hongan-ji temple (西本願寺), Koson Otani (大谷光尊). She studied waka poem under Nobutsuna Sasaki (佐々木信綱) and painting under Syoen Uemura (上村松園). She founded Kyoto Women’s University in Kyoto and contributed to the development of education for women.
