Niwa Kagen

1742～1786
He was born in Owari (now Aichi pref). He liked to study since he was young. He studied Confucianism and Japanese classic literature. He went to Kyoto for studying when he was at the age of 20. After he came back, he tried to draw a Shinkei-zu (真景図:real scenery) of Mt.Fuji. Then he drew many Shinkei-zu. In his later years, he devoted himself to studying of Chinese paintings and criticism of painting.
