Hukuda Hanko
1804~1864
He was born in Shizuoka pref. He visited Kazan Watanabe (渡辺崋山: a painter and thinker) in his age of 30. After a year, he became a pupil of Kazan. He focused on landscape painting. Kazan was placed in confinement because of Bannsya-no-goku. Bannsya-no-goku was a imprisonment of scholars of Western learning. Hanko started a distribute activity of paintings for Kazan. However, it was considered problematic and drived Kazan into hara-kiri. Hanko grieved over the death of Kawan.
