Kano Eigaku
1790~1867
He was a Kano school painter. He became an adopted son of the 8th head of the Kyo Kano (the branch of Kano school in Kyoto), Eisyu Kano (狩野永俊) and Eigaku became the 9th head. He studied painting under the founder of Kyo Kano, Sanraku Kano (狩野山楽), and inherited his layout. Eigaku used brilliant colors and many straight lines in his works. He performed a lot of big jobs in some temples inclufding Daitoku-ji temple (大徳寺), Myoshin-ji (妙心寺).
